Digi Haven Challenge #4 Happy Birthday

It's a birthday celebration around here. Digi Haven's challenge is to use a Free digital birthday image this week.

Here's another view to see the layering:

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White and Black
Spectrum Noir Markers
CardzTV with Mary Clear Stamps Ticket Talk "Happy Birthday!"
StazOn Jet Black Ink
Mounting Tape

I printed out the image twice. I fully colored the one image, but only the select balloons on the second. I cut the selected balloons out and mounted them on their respected image.

My first thought was to use this image as a birthday card; however, I also thought that if you colored the balloons in school colors and changed the sentiment to " Congratulations!", you could use it as a graduation card. Pretty cool, huh?

Challenges run through Thursday, so hop on over to Digi Haven and join the fun. Please make sure to link back to the original artist and give credit where credit is due.

Thanks for stopping by. Leave a comment (I love to read them).

Digi Haven Challenge #3 Summer

If you are looking for the CardzTV Challenge, click here.

When I think of summer, I think of the beach. I love the beach!...sitting and listening to the waves crashing down on the sand and a cool ocean breeze...aahhhh...How about you? I hope I able to get there this year.

At Digi Haven this week, the challenge is Summer. Use any FREE Summer/Beach/Surf image that you like. As soon as I saw this little cutie, I knew exactly what I wanted to make.

Wish I was there right now......

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Yellow, Teal, Teal Patterned and Sandpaper (Yes, I said Sandpaper lol)
Melonheadz Illustrating Digital Image
Spectrum Noir Markers
CardzTV with Mary Clear Stamps FAQ's, "Guess  Who?"
Black Pigment Ink
EK Success Scallop Circle Punch
Jolee's Boutique Sticker San Francisco, Crab
Thin Black Marker

After I colored her in, I fussy-cut her out. I made the waves by tearing the paper into strips and layering them on top of each other. The birds are drawn with a thin black marker. The "sand" is 100 grit sandpaper. The sun and the girl are single mounted.

I thought I could use this card for a number of different things...birthday, just because, congratulations...depending on the sentiment I choose for the inside.

Hope you join the challenge...remember to link back to the original artist for the image.

Thanks.

CardzTV Stamps Challenge # 11 "Anything Goes"

If you are looking for the Digi Haven Challenge, click here.

It's challenge time again at CardzTV with Mary Clear Stamps. This time it is "Anything Goes!" Now this opens up so much...and sometimes I think these challenges are so much harder. (I like to have a direction!) Although, I think I did pretty good with this...

Finished Card: 4" x 9"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Two Shades of Orange, Black and Patterned Paper
Cricut Cartridge Create A Critter Giraffe, page 48 (Base, Layer 1 Base, Layer 2 Base and Accessory Base)
CardzTV with Mary Clear Stamps Critter Captions, "Thanks for stickin' your NECK out!"
StazOn Jet Black Ink
Sugarloaf Whispers Strokes Markers
Mounting Tape

I thought I would make this a TALL card, because of the giraffe (cut at 5 1/2"). I colored the nose (tan), the horns and "mane" (green) with the Sugarloaf Markers. I also used the green marker and colored the outside of the card to match. Although you can't see it, the giraffe is single mounted on the shadow layer. The sign and the sunglasses are also mounted. I thought the CardzTV sentiment was perfect! Mary has so many great stamp sets!

Hope you join the challenge. The winner will receive their choice of one of Mary's stamp sets. So get on over there and check it out!

Thanks for stopping by.

Treasure Map Gift Bag

About a month ago, my family was invited to a pirate themed birthday party for a four year old little boy. Unfortunately, my husband and I were sick and my kids had to work, so we did not get to the party. However, I will be seeing them this weekend and thought I would share the gift bag that I made for his present.

Finished Gift Bag: approximately 8" x 10 1/2" x 4 3/4"

Materials:
Cardstock: Black, Tan, Red and White
Cricut Cartridge Life's A Party Map, page 44 (Base, Shift Base, Layer 1 Base and Layer 1 Shift) Cut at 5 1/2"
Charcoal Chalk
Gift Bag

I thought it spruced up the bag a little. Part of his gift is a pair of shorts and matching tee-shirt that has a skull and cross bones with "Treasure Hunter" on it. I thought it was cute.

Thanks for stopping by.

Graduation Card

First of all.....Happy Father's Day to all those father's and husband's out there. Hope you have a wonderful, relaxing day!

I don't feel a though I have been around very much lately, I have been so busy trying to get ready for a party that we are having next weekend. I have been working, making things and trying to get the backyard ready. Hopefully, I'll have some pictures the following week.

However, yesterday, my son calls me and says "Mom, could you make me a graduation card, please? I need it for tonight. And could you make it a taco?" Well, of course I said yes and dropped everything. Unfortunately, I have NOTHING with a taco...none of my cartridges and none of my free digi's. So I made a quick, regular graduation card:

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: Two Shades of Green, White and Patterned Paper
Cricut Cartridge Everyday Pop-Up Cards Graduation Cap, page 43 (Base, Base Shift and Layer 1 Base)
Inkadinkado Clear Stamps All Occasions "Congratulations!"
Green Pigment Ink
Thin Black Marker
Queen and Co Pearl, Pearl 1 Medium
Mounting Tape

He said it was perfect! (Although I know he was disappointed it wasn't a taco...oh well!)

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

Digi Haven Challenge #2 Flowers

The challenge this week at Digi Haven is to use a (free) Floral image. Please link back to the artist/website to give them the credit they deserve. Now honestly, I had started with a different image; but after I finished it, I didn't really care for it. (Maybe I'll print it out again and try something else). Sometimes, I'm my own worst enemy (lol). So anyway, this is what I came up with this time...what do you think?

Wanted you to see the layered flowers:

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Blue and Patterned
Beccy's Place  Digital Image
Spectrum Noir Markers
CardzTV with Mary Clear Stamps Encouraging Thoughts, "Thinking of You"
Black Pigment Ink
Black Embossing Powder
Spellbinders Nestabilities Standard Circles Large, Largest
Queen and Co Rhinestones Grass Green, 2 Small
Mounting Tape

I like the look of the layering...give's dimension...so what I have been doing is to print out 2 copies of the same image, same size. Then, if I decide to layer, I just have to color both images the same. (This alleviates having to go back and guess the size of the image). If I don't layer, then I have a second image for another card already printed out.

I hope you will join us in the challenges. Have some fun...there are so many free digi's out there. Tell your friends too.

Thanks for stopping by.

Had a few minutes to make a card yesterday:

I love the bird image and I tried to imitate Mother Nature in the coloring of her.

Baby Shower "Lollipops"

One of my co-workers is pregnant and they had a small baby shower for her today. This is what I made for her:

A closer view:

Each "lollipop" is actually two baby washcloths rolled together, taped at the bottom and a baby spoon taped in the back for the "stick".

(Sorry, I forgot to take a picture of just one of them before I put it all together). I picked up the small bucket from Target. I knew she was having a girl so I picked up "girly" colors. This could easily be made with either "boy" colors or neutrals. I made the tag from Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Four, the largest one.

I actually saw this on Pinterest. Thought it was such a cute idea. Don't you think so too?

First Challenge at Digi Haven "Forever Freebie"

(If you are looking for the CardzTV DT Challenge #10 "My Guy", click here).

I am so excited as this is the first challenge over at Digi Haven. Use a Forever Freebie. This is a digital image that is ALWAYS free...(NOT for a limited time or a Freebie of the month). There are so many of them out there. Please link back to the original artist or website (we want to give credit where credit is due). The challenge runs through Thursday and the winner will be posted on Sunday.

Ok, enough of that...lol. I actually made two cards, same image, but didn't they turn out different? Here's the first one:

This is the inside (it's a gate-fold card):

and the second card:

Finished Cards: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials: (First Card)
Cardstock: White, Green and Patterned
Melonheadz Illustrating Digital Image
Spectrum Noir Markers
Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Scalloped Ovals Large
Studio G Clear Stamp "Make a Wish"
StazOn Jet Black Ink
Circle Punch
Fiskars All Year Greetings "It's your birthday!"
Queen and Co Rhinestones Sunflower Yellow, 1 Small; Indigo, 1 Large and 1 Medium
Queen and Co Pearls Grass Green, 2 Small
Mounting Tape

Materials: (Second Card)
Cardstock: White, Light Teal and Dark Teal
Melonheadz Illustrating Digital Image
Spectrum Noir Markers
Inkadinkado Clear Stamps Expressions, "Precious and few are friends like you"
Black Pigment Ink
Fiskars 3 in 1 Corner Punch
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder Spots and Dots
Queen and Co Pearls Grass Green, 2 Small; Teal Blue, 3 Large
Nicole Ultra Fine Premium Glitter Extra Fine Multi Diamond Dust
Mounting Tape

(Phew...that was a lot!) I made the first card for my granddaughter's birthday that is coming up. The second card is not for anything special but I figure I could use it for a birthday, "thinking of you" or "just because" card. Which one do you like better?

Just want to mention (as I found this out the hard way), if you are using your colored images on a place where the back may show (as in the first card), make sure you cover the back of the image so any bleeding doesn't show. ( I realized this AFTER I put the card together, but I was able to cut another scallop and slip it behind). Learn from my mistakes! lol

I love how versatile digital images are. Color it one way and it becomes one thing, but just change the colors and it becomes something quite different. Now join the challenge over at Digi Haven and have some fun. Tell your friends!!! Good luck1

Thanks for stopping by...let me know what you think (and maybe become a follower).

CardzTV with Mary "My Guy" Challenge #10

(If you are looking for the first challenge (Forever Freebie) at Digi Haven, click here).

There's a challenge at CardzTV with Mary Clear Stamps. It's called "My Guy". (Make a project for a masculine birthday or for Father's Day). I decided to make a birthday card for my husband. (His birthday is at the beginning of July).

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Yellow, Orange, Green, Lime Green, Black and Patterned Paper
Cricut Cartridge Simply Charmed Fish 1, page 41 (Base, Layer 1 Base, Layer 2 Base, Layer 3 Base and Shadow)
CardzTV with Mary Clear Stamps It's a Guy Thing, "Fishin' You a Happy Birthday!"
Black Pigment Ink
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder Tiny Mosaic
Fiskars 3 in 1 Corner Punch
Light Blue Chalk
Mounting Tape

He loves to go fishing but his schedule generally doesn't allow it. (Maybe this summer).

On the sentiment, after I punched the two corners, I chalked around the edges. I single mounted the fish and each layer of the fishing reel. I thought the background paper was perfect. Don't you think so?

Well, head on over to CardzTV and join the challenge. Mary is giving away a set of stamps (your choice) to the winner (announced on Monday). Good luck!

I would love for you to be a follower. I also love reading your comments. Thanks for dropping by.

Pinwheels

One of the things that summer brings to mind is pinwheels for me. Little kids carrying them around in the warm summer breeze or them spinning at the shore, waiting to be bought at the boardwalk shops. Silly little goofy toys but they conjure up nice memories.

Inside:

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Blue, Green and Patterned
Sweet Stamping Treats Digital Image
Spectrum Noir Markers
CardzTV with Mary Clear Stamps Make a Wish "Blow!"
Black Pigment Ink
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder D'Vine Swirls
Nicole Ultra Fine Premium Glitter Extra Fine Multi Diamond Dust
4 Small Brads (2 Light Purple and 2 Dark Purple)
Queen and Co Pearls Brilliant Blue, 3 Small
Studio G Clear Stamps "Happy Birthday"
Mounting Tape

I printed out the image twice, colored both the same, glittered the pinwheels on only the one page, then cut them and the base out and single mounted it to the other. They look like they could start spinning at any moment if you would just blow on them (lol) or from the D'Vine Swirls "breeze".

I am entering this into two challenges also: The Paper Players (Summertime) and Cupcake Inspirations (photo).

I also would like to share a photo with you. I painted this birdhouse (and named it "Fly By Night Motel") many years ago and have never had any birds interested in "renting" a room...until this year. I have been watching Mom and Pop going in and out feeding their little one(s) for the past few days. I am just so thrilled to see nature at it's best.

Thanks for stopping by...have a great day!
