Digi Haven Challenge Fins and/or Feathers

If you are looking for CardzTV Challenge #14, click here.

This is a really fun challenge at Digi Haven. Use a free digital image that has either Fins or Feathers. The challenge will run for 2 weeks now (to give everyone a chance to find a freebie). I found four different ones and made 3 different cards!!! (lol)

Here is my first card:

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White and Patterned Paper
Elizabeth O. Dulemba Coloring Pages, Shark
Bird Cards Digital Images, "Have a Fin-tastic Day"
Spectrum Noir Markers
Spellbinders Nestabilities Reverse Wonky Rectangles, 4th Largest
Queen and Co Rhinestones, Lavender 3 Small
Mounting Tape

I single mounted the sentiment and double mounted the shark. I think he's a cutie, don't you?

Second Card:

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Brown and K and Company Tag
Paper Smooches Digital Images, Owl, Branch and "You're a Hoot"
Spectrum Noir Markers
Darice Embossing Essentials Corner Scroll
Brown Ribbon
Mounting Tape

I single mounted the tag, the branch and the feet of the owl on the branch. The body of the owl is double mounted to make him even on the tag.

Third Card:

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White and Blue
The Alley Way Digital Images, Fish and "Just Keep Swimming"
Spectrum Noir Markers
Sizzix Wood Sign
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder D'Vine Swirls
Fiskars Textured Plates, Woodgrain and Stones
Tan and Brown Chalk
Mounting Tape

I embossed the blue card stock with D'Vine Swirls, then chalked it with tan chalk to highlight the swirls. The sign I embossed with the woodgrain textured plate after cutting it out with the Sizzix die. After coloring it with a Spectrum Noir Marker, I chalked it with brown to highlight the grain. I colored the fish, fussy cut it and embossed it with the stones textured plate. I single mounted the sign and double mounted the fish.

I hope you decide to play along. Don't forget to link the original artist.

CardzTV DT Challenge #13: Color Challenge

If you are looking for the Digi Haven Challenge: click here.

This is CardzTV with Mary Clear Stamps Challenge and this time, we have a color challenge. Aren't they so much fun...and a lot of freedom. The challenge runs from the 17th until the 23rd and the winner will receive one of Mary's CardzTV stamp sets. Here are the colors: Marigold Yellow, Royal Blue, Rich Purple and Gray (you may use small amounts of Black and White also).

I have a birthday coming up, so I made myself a card. (Can you tell how I am feeling about it?)

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Black, Marigold Yellow, Royal Blue and Patterned Paper
Cricut Cartridge Over The Hill Cake, page 15 (Buttons 21 and 31)
CardzTV with Mary Clear Stamps Make a Wish, "Over the Hill"
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder D'Vine Swirls
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder Spiderweb
Martha Stewart Edge Punch Drippy Goo
Clear Glitter
Inkssentials Glossy Accents
White, Purple and Gray Pigment Ink
Studio G Mini Spider Punch
Mounting Tape

Not my usual style card...

I used purple pigment ink on the candelabra and gray on the stand. I thought the candles would stand out more with the Glossy Accents and the flames with glitter.

Guess my mood is also due to work and all the Halloween/Fall merchandise coming in. Add to it that I injured myself (at work)...Popped a rib out of place...I know, You did what? Yep that's what I said, Popped a rib. (I didn't know you could do such a thing!) However, I went to the chiropractor (twice) and he popped it back into place. Who knew?....

Hope you decide to join the challenge. Please leave a comment.

imagine what you could do...

Side note:
(lol I had pre-posted the card for the Digi Haven Challenge and I hope you check it out...I think it is certainly ironic!...especially the inside sentiment. lol)

Pinwheels

One of the things that summer brings to mind is pinwheels for me. Little kids carrying them around in the warm summer breeze or them spinning at the shore, waiting to be bought at the boardwalk shops. Silly little goofy toys but they conjure up nice memories.

Inside:

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Blue, Green and Patterned
Sweet Stamping Treats Digital Image
Spectrum Noir Markers
CardzTV with Mary Clear Stamps Make a Wish "Blow!"
Black Pigment Ink
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder D'Vine Swirls
Nicole Ultra Fine Premium Glitter Extra Fine Multi Diamond Dust
4 Small Brads (2 Light Purple and 2 Dark Purple)
Queen and Co Pearls Brilliant Blue, 3 Small
Studio G Clear Stamps "Happy Birthday"
Mounting Tape

I printed out the image twice, colored both the same, glittered the pinwheels on only the one page, then cut them and the base out and single mounted it to the other. They look like they could start spinning at any moment if you would just blow on them (lol) or from the D'Vine Swirls "breeze".

I am entering this into two challenges also: The Paper Players (Summertime) and Cupcake Inspirations (photo).

I also would like to share a photo with you. I painted this birdhouse (and named it "Fly By Night Motel") many years ago and have never had any birds interested in "renting" a room...until this year. I have been watching Mom and Pop going in and out feeding their little one(s) for the past few days. I am just so thrilled to see nature at it's best.

Thanks for stopping by...have a great day!

Happy Birthday Butterfly

I made this card for a friend of mine for her birthday. She loves butterflies. They are a reminder of her mother.

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Black, Teal and Purple

Water Mister
Sponge
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder D'Vine Swirls
Inkadinkado Expressions Clear Stamps "Precious and Few are Friends Like You" and Butterfly
StazOn Jet Black Ink
Queen and Co Pearls, Nightfall 4 Small

I covered the paper with 4 different colors of pigment ink, then sprayed it lightly with water. Next, use a sponge and dab lightly to soften the colors. Let dry. Stamp the sentiment and butterfly. Emboss the Teal and Purple Papers. Layer the Black, Purple and Teal papers, then add the colored/stamped one with mounting tape. Finally, add the pearls.

Hope my friend likes the card.

I am also entering this into the Crop Stop challenge.

Thanks for stopping by. I would love to hear what you think...

Birthday Card...Celebrating Dog

I bought these teacher's supply stickers at work the other day...discounted ( I love that!) and the card just seemed to make itself.

Here's another angle so (hopefully) you can see the dimension on the sentiment and the horn:

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Yellow, Red and Blue
Teacher's Supply Stickers, Happy Birthday Dog, 2 of them
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder D'Vine Swirls
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder Candy Cane Stripe
Nicole Stickers Confetti
Mounting Tape

I cut out the sentiment and single mounted it over the original. I then cut out the horn and mounted it with a single piece near the mouth and a double piece at the end so it would look like it was sticking out further. Quick and easy card. I have more of these stickers (they came in a pack) and I have a few other ideas for them.

I am submitting this into the Birthday Sundaes and Celebrate the Occasion challenges this week.

Thanks for stopping by.

Happy BIRD-day!

Birthday Sundaes has a challenge this week to make an Easel Card with the birthday sentiment on the front. I made this cute little easel card.

And when opened:

and one more angle:

Finished Card: 3" x 3 1/2" ((to the top of the hat)

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Blue, Dark Blue, Yellow/Gold, Purple, Brown, Tan, Pink and Patterned Paper
Cricut Cartridge 3 Birds on Parade Bird 1, page 28 (Base, Shift, Layer 1 Base and Layer 1 Shift); Party, page 63 (Base (cut for the cupcake only), Layer 2 Base and Layer 2 Shift) and Nest, page 75 (Base and Shift)
Cricut Design Studio
CardzTV with Mary Clear Stamps Make A Wish, "Happy BIRD-day!"
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder D'Vine Swirls
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder Swiss Dots
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder Candy Cane Stripes
Inkssentials Glossy Accents
Black Pigment Ink
Small Yellow Pom Pom
Mounting Tape

I made this easel card by cutting a strip of white card stock 3" x 9". I scored at 3", 4 1/2" and 6". Fold to make a "M" shape. Glue the one side of the middle of the "M" to the side...this forms the front of the card. This is the base of the easel card. I added the patterned paper to the inside and decorated. I decorated an extra piece of card stock and adhered it to the front of the card. I hope you understand what I did. If not, you can check out Andrea's Stampin' Moments (click here). (I just changed the measurements).

My husband had bought me the CardzTV with Mary Clear Stamp Set "Make a Wish" for Christmas and as soon as I saw the sentiment "Happy BIRD-day!" I knew I wanted to make a"birdie birthday" card. I like how it turned out. Do you?

Just My Style

This is my first project as a design team member for CardzTV. I'm so excited. Our first challenge is called "Just My Style". I actually made two cards.

Here's the first one:

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Turquoise, Three Shades of Brown, Red and Patterned Paper
Cricut Cartridge Create A Critter Reindeer, page 73 (Base, Layer 1 Base, Layer 2 Base and Layer 3 Base)
CardzTV with Mary Clear Stamps Holly Jolly "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas"
Red Glitter Glue
Queen and Co Pearls Pearl 8 Small
Le Plume II Marker Brown
Mounting Tape

My second card:

and the inside:

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Cream, Brown, Yellow, Orange, Pink and Patterned Paper
Cricut Cartridge Everyday Pop-Up Cards Cake 2, page 64 (Base, Layer 1 Base, Layer 1 Shift and Layer 2 Base)
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder D'Vine Swirls
Le Plume II Marker Pink (the candles and cake plate)
Fiskars Clear Stamps Put On Your Party Hat "Happy Birthday"
Queen and Co Pearls Orchid 3 Large and 2 Medium
Mounting Tape
Computer Sentiment (inside)

When I read the challenge, "Just My Style", I thought long and hard about it. I finally concluded that my style is simple. Generally, I like one large image accompanied by a sentiment. My lines are usually straight. I do like embossing folders too. Oh yeah, and 3-D projects. (lol) Now don't get me wrong, I use border punches and glitter too. I guess it just depends on my mood and the project.

Hope you check out all the projects over at CardzTV (and Mary is giving away a new stamp set too).

Two Challenges...Use Ribbon

I would like to submit the card I made for two challenges. The first is Birthday Sundaes (Use Ribbon on your Birthday Card). The second is Celebrate the Occasion (Any Occasion...must use Ribbon).

Here is my card:

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Blue, Red, Orange,Yellow, Green, Gray and Two Patterned Papers
Cricut Cartridge Simply Charmed Cupcake 1, page 77 (Base, Layer 1 Base, Layer 2 Base, Layer 3 Base, Layer 4 Base and Shadow Base)
Cricut Design Studio
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder D'vine Swirls
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder Mosaic Tiles
Happy Birthday Ribbon
Inkadinkado Clear Stamps Birthday Cupcakes "Sweet Birthday Wishes", "Celebrate" and a Cupcake
Blue Pigment Ink
Red Pigment Ink
Black Pigment Ink
Queen and Co Pearls, Berry Red 4 Small
Irridescent Glitter

It's always nice to have an extra birthday card around the house...for those unexpected times. My sons use them all the time.

Although my work schedule still hasn't changed (still working a lot of hours), I've been trying harder to craft when I have some available time. I'm trying to get my livingroom painted (although it's not really used as a livingroom..it houses our pool table). Couldn't find a paint color that I was happy with...until last week. So now starts the spackling, and sanding...woo hoo.

Well, happy creating...leave a message (I always love to read your comments)

"Welcome Baby" Cricut 360 Challenge

A few weeks ago, the Walmart that I frequent was having a clearance sale on their Cricut Lite Cartridges. I thought I would pick up a couple of them since they were half price. I bought Block Party, B is for Boy and Sugar and Spice, thinking that maybe I could use them sometime. Well, Cricut 360 is having a challenge called "Welcome Baby". I thought this would be a perfect time to use the Sugar and Spice Cartridge.

Here is my card:

Finished Card: 4 1/4' x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Green, Yellow, Black and Vellum Patterned Paper
Cricut Lite Cartridge Sugar And Spice Stork, 35th Button (Base, Shift and Layer  Base)
Cricut Design Studio
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder D'vine Swirls
Sizzix Embossing Folder Scrollwork
Light Green and Light Yellow Chalk
Two Medium Size Buttons Light Yellow
Mounting Tape
Computer Printed Sentiment

I cut the green cardstock 4" x 5 1/4". I then cut the vellum 4 1/4" x 5 1/4". I used a scoring board to score the vellum at 1/4" from the top. I folded it over and then placed it over the green cardstock and taped it down on the back. In this way I didn't have to adhere the vellum on the front. I don't know about you but I don't like the tape/glue to show through when using vellum. I cut a piece of white cardstock at 3 3/4" x 5" and glued that between the vellum and the green cardstock. I thought the white cardstock would help show the vellum off better. After embossing, I lightly chalked the pieces. I thought the buttons at the top just finished the card off.

Would love to hear from you...leave a comment

Hope you have a wonderful day...do something creative, just

It's A Boy Card

At Scrappy Moms Stamps, the challenge this week was to use the Cricut Cartridge New Arrival. I came up with this card:

The inside is stamped with "Congratulations".

Finished Card: 4" x 9 1/4" (Fits in a business size envelope).

Materials:
Cardstock: Two Shades of Blue, White, Red, Green Yellow and Patterned Paper.
Cricut Cartridge New Arrival Plane page 118, (Base and Shift Base), "It's A Boy" page 90, (Base)
Cricut Design Studio
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder D'Vine Swirls
Inkadinkado Happy Everything Stamps "Congratulations"
Red, Green and Black Pigment Ink
Studio G Clear Stamps
Mounting Tape

Where I work, one of my Assistant Managers is pregnant and she is having a boy in June. I think I may give her this card. It's her first child. Hopefully, she'll like this card.

I used Design Studio to lay out three airplanes and the accessories, so I could cut them in different colors. Clockwise, the colors were: Blue, Red, Green and Yellow. I then played around and changed the colors so I would end up with three different airplanes. This is how I laid out the 12"x 12" mat:

I didn't glue the "extra" "It's a Boy" sentiments on the banner yet, because I thought that I could change it to "Happy Birthday" or "Congratulations" just in case I needed a different type of card. I also glued a piece of scrap cardstock behind the windows.

Hope you have a wonderful rest of the day. I have a friend coming over. I'm not sure what we'll be doing, but it doesn't matter since it's always nice spending time with a friend.

Don't forget about the give-away (click here). I'll be picking a winner on Tuesday the 19th. Good luck!

I would love to hear from you here also. Your comments are always appreciated. Thanks.

Until the next post....imagine what you could do.....

Bunch of Flowers...Happy Easter

CropStop is having a sketch challenge this week. This is the sketch:

                                                        CropStop-Sketch-11.jpg

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Pink, Yellow, 2 Shades of Green, 2 Shades of Purple

EK Success Corner Rounder
Martha Stewart Glitter Black
Studio G Clear Stamps "Happy (Bunny) Easter"
Queen and Co Pearls Grass Green and Orchid (Two of each, Small, Medium and Large)
Black Pigment Ink
Pink Ribbon

I also made another version:

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, 2 Shades of Purple, 2 Shades of Green, Yellow and Patterned Paper
Cricut Cartridge Walk In My Garden Cornflower page 86, (Base) and Stem 2 page 103 (Base Shift)

Small Flower Punch
Martha Stewart Flocking Powder Black
Studio G Clear Stamps "Spring Has Sprung"
Black Pigment Ink
Queen and Co Pearls Nightfall (3)
Yellow Ribbon
Purple Ribbon
Mounting Tape

I really like the way these cards turned out. Very Springy, I think. The sun was shining for a change today...maybe that's what inspired these cards. I also got a chance to go out to the vegetable garden and pull out all the dead stuff. (Yuck....) I found that I had some leftover vegetables from last year...a couple of carrots and a half dozen onions. Can't wait to get this year's crops started. I also got to plant some red Petunias in a pot for the front porch. Actually feel like I accomplished something this Saturday!

Well, enjoy the rest of the day...whether it is crafting, reading or gardening...imagine what you could do

I made this card a while ago but never posted it, so I thought it would work for the challenge at Die Cuttin' Diva's Hippity Hoppity Challenge #8 (...love to see eggs, bunnies, chicks, crosses, baskets...).

Materials:
Cardstock: Yellow, Two Shades of Green, White, Two Shades of Brown and Two Different Patterned Papers.

I wanted to put a small bunny in the basket, but didn't have one. I saw the ant punch, then thought if I cut off the middle legs, it would look like a bunny...and it worked! Sometimes you just have to think outside of the box! I really like the way this card came out.

Three Challenges ...One Card

Today I thought I would try to put three challenges into one card...first, here is my card: (It's hard to see on the photo but the sentiment reads: " Good Friends are like Stars...")

and the inside: ("You don't always see them, but you know they are always there")

The challenges are PaperCraft Star Challenge 30 (click here) Scraplift any project on any current PaperCraft Star Design Team Member's  Blogs; The Paper Variety (click here) Friendship Challenge! There is a quote to use or inspire and the last challenge is CropStop Challenge #4 (click here) Make a Good Impression! Use 2 different patterns of embossing.

For PaperCraft Star, I scraplifted Tracy's card from Challenge #29 (click here to see her card). I used the actual quote from The Paper Variety...although, I split it between the front and the inside. For CropStop, I used actually 3 different embossing folders and I wet embossed the star.

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Two shades of Pink, Green and Patterned Paper
Sizzix Flower # 1
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder Swiss Dots
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder D'Vine Swirls
Sizzix Embossing Folder Spring Flowers
Tim Holtz Distress Powder Peeled Paint (Green) (embossed a gold star to green)
Olive Green Chalk
White Sheer Ribbon
Queen and Co Pearls Grass Green Six Pearls Two Large, Two Medium and Two Small
Computer Printed Sentiment Basque 12 in Rose
Mounting Tape

Hope that you like this card. It was fun putting the three challenges together.

We ended up getting at least 10 inches of snow. It's beautiful to look at, but.....well, the dogs like it...hahaha. Guess it's time to get back outside and shovel some more...woo hoo (not). The plows just finally came down our street...the driveway will be a mess again. Oh well....

Leave a comment...Thanks, I always love reading your thoughts. Take some time and do some crafting...imagine what you could do...

Another Two Challenges...CropStop and Cardz TV

I made this card for two challenges. CropStop Challenge #3 Squares and Die Cuts. Click here to check it out. (Basically, make a square card with a die cut on it). The second challenge is for Cardz TV. Cupcake Challenge! Click here to read about this one. (Make a card with a cupcake on it).

Finished Card: 5" x 5"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Brown, Pink, Green and Patterned Paper
Cricut Cartridge Sweet Treats Cupcake 1 page 24 (Base Shadow/Blackout and Shift Shadow/Blackout), Cupcake 4 page 27 (Shift Base, Base Layers)
Cricut Cartridge Cindy Loo  "sweet" (each letter, Base Font)
Cricut Design Studio
Glitter Glue Clear
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder D'Vine Swirls
Studio G Pigment Ink (Lime Green) (Around edge of card)
Three (3) Clear Rhinestones, small, medium and large
Mounting Tape

Here is a different view:

I use Design Studio to make the cupcake because honestly, I don't like how high the "paper" comes up on the original image...so, I cut it shorter. I hope you are able to see all the glittery details...swirls, paper and letters. I used only one type of glitter glue (it's missing the label, sorry), but it shows up differently on each type of paper.

Two Challenges in One Card

This is the first time I have done this...used one card for two challenges. Here is the card:

The first challenge is CropStop Challenge # 2 - Add Some Stickles or Glitter Glue on your project. Click here. I used it on the swirl.
The second challenge is Fantabulous Cricut Challenge # 43 Sweet Shop - Incorporate something sweet on your project. Click here. The cupcake would be something sweet..don't you think? lol
I think I accomplished it.

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Green, Pink, Brown and Patterned Paper
Cricut Cartridge Sweet Treats Cupcake 1 page 24 (Base, Shift Layers and Base Shadow), Cupcake 4 page 27 (Shift Base, Base Layers)
Cricut Design Studio
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder D'Vine Swirls
Ranger Stickles Lime Green
Computer Printed Sentiment on Front and Inside

I follow quite a few blogs and I notice that many of them do more than one challenge at a time. It was fun trying to put altogether...although these were not real difficult. Maybe I'll try it again...yeah, probably.

Leave a comment and tell me how many challenges you have ever used one card for...would love to hear about it...thanks. Imagine what you could do.........
