They are fairly simple invitations and I still feel like they are missing something. However, I needed to get them out, so I left them like this. I stamped the "ticket" on white card stock, colored the outside, stamped the sentiment, then fussy-cut them out.  Of course, all the information for the party is on the inside. Can you guess the theme? Maybe I'll post pictures afterwards...

A Bunny "For You"

There's been a lot going on around here for the last week or so. You knew that my youngest was in an accident (again, he was fine), but the Explorer was totaled. So we were starting to look around for a car for him and dealing with the insurance. Well, twelve days after Jeff's accident, my middle son's car just died. Not really wanting to put any money into a car that had over 170,000 miles on it, we were left with trying to find two cars. (Oh, the joy!) Thankfully to my husband and a lot of man hours, we now have two "new" cars...a 2008 Jeep Patriot for my youngest and a 2006 Nissan Altima for my middle son (...and two car payments for us...lol)

With all of that, not a whole lot of crafting going on around here. However, I was able to make one for The Paper Variety this morning. It's a "Tic Tac Toe" challenge. I picked "Create A Card",  "Use Two Border Punches" and "Spring Theme". Here is my card:

Sympathy Card

Quick post tonight...I am really tired.

Last night I received a phone call that my cousin's wife had passed away and the viewing was later that night. I had a couple hours beforehand, so I made a quick Sympathy Card.

Sympathy Card

Last week, my friend's dog started acting a little off. She took him to the vet and they determined that he was really sick. The family made that oh-so-hard decision and on Monday night, Romeo was not in pain any longer. Knowing how it feels to loss an animal that you care so much for, (actually a big part of the family), I thought I would make a sympathy card for her.

Simple To Make Sympathy Card

A friend of mine's Father-in-law just passed away. I created this simple to make Sympathy Card.

I cut the large green rectangle 3 3/4" x 4" and 3 1/2" x 3 3/4". The purple squares are 3" x 3" and 2 3/4" x 2 3/4". The smallest green rectangle is cut at 1" x 2 3/4" and 3/4" x 2 1/2".  The ivory rectangle is 1 1/4" x 2".  Layer together, then off-set each group. The flower is on mounting tape to give a little more dimension.

Card From DCWV La Creme Matstack

Good morning. This is just a quick post.

I made this card from La Creme matstack. The cardstock was so nice that I felt it only needed a sentiment and a black mat around it.

Creations With Christina Challenge #8 Final One

Can't believe we're at #8 The Final Challenge...Create a card using any pumpkin image from any Cricut Cartridge.

 

I used two pumpkins from the same cartridge...Pumpkin Carving. Since it doesn't have a layer feature I cut it twice, once in orange and once in green, then I cut off the stem to make my own layer.

I can't believe it...I made a card for ALL eight challenges! I am ecstatic that I was able to complete them. Guess you never what you can do, until you try! So, if I can do it, then imagine what you could do....

Thank You Card

I went out yesterday and bought a new Sizzix Die at AC Moore with a 51% coupon...(woo hoo), don't you just love using a coupon?  I know I do. I bought Tim Holtz Alterations BigZ Die Tattered Florals. When I got home, I just had to play.

First, I decided to make another tri-fold card (See my Halloween Ghost Card, September 9, 2010). The base card is white cardstock 8 1/2" x 5/1/2". Score at 2 1/8", turn card around and score again at 2 1/8". Fold. Next. I cut two (2) pieces of patterned cardstock at 1 3/4" x 5 1/4" and glued them to each side of the front of the base card. Next, I took two (2) colors of purple cardstock and using my Sizzix Big Kick, I cut out the flowers from my new Tim Holtz die. I separated the colors, and then tried several different combinations...all one light purple, all one dark purple, then every other color layer. The last combo is the one I liked the best. I also end up with another flower to use on another project. (Yeah!) I then inked the dark purple flowers with white pigment ink on the edges and swiped each petal from the center out. With the lighter purple flowers, I did the same thing only using a teal pigment ink. Next, I cut out a 3 1/2" square in gold cardstock. Punching a hole in the center of each flower and the center of the gold square, I assembled the flower using an American Crafts Elements Large Brad  Dandelion. I then rounded the two (2) opposite corners with my EK Success corner Rounder Punch. I curled the flower petals so they would stand up. I cut another square at 3 3/4" in white cardstock. I rounded two (2) corners on this square also. I then glued the gold square/flower to the white cardstock, making sure to put the two (2) rounded corners together. I then glued the big white square to only one half of the front of the tri-fold card. Do not glue both sides, as then you will not be able to open the card. I stamped Thank You using purple pigment ink to gold cardstock. I cut it out (1 5/8" x 5/8") and bordered it with white cardstock (1 3/4" x 3/4"). Finally, I glued a strip of the striped cardstock to the inside. I think that it turned out pretty nice.

 Remember that I said I had another flower to use for a project. Well, here is what I came up with:

These were really fun to create. I can't wait to try using different paper with these flowers and see how it turns out...now you go try and imagine what you could do.....

Mariposa Matstack

The other day I was at A C Moore and found this cardstock pad from DCWV. As I flipped through it, I saw so many beautiful images.

 I thought that some of these could be used as cards just as they were or with a little bit of embellishment.

So that's what I did with the ones in the above photo. I found the image on the card that I liked the most and then cut to fit a card 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". (A2 card) and adhered it to a card base. (Reminder: Half of a 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of cardstock and then folded in half).

These two I thought were pretty enough without anything extra. They could be used for any number of occasions...birthday, get well, thinking of you, etc. The sentiment can be added inside.

I added a yellow ribbon to the one card (on the left), tied a knot and cut the ends on an angle. Not sure if I want to add a sentiment yet. The other card I cut a 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" square of teal cardstock, then used my Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page Combo, Double Loops. I cut a piece of black cardstock 3 1/2' x 3 1/2", rounded the ends with EK Success Paper Shapers Corner Adorner Rounder Punch - Large. This is the shadow. I cut another piece of black cardstock at 3" x 3" and rounded those corners also. The light blue square is 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" and rounded it. I stamped "thinking of you" in gold using Fiskars All Year Greetings Clear Stamps. (Although it is hard to see in the photo).

With these cards, I felt they needed some type of embellishment. I stamped "Congratulations" in green ink and bordered it in green cardstock and used 3D-Dots. I also used Inkssentials Glossy Acents on the two butterflies. On the next card, (clockwise), I only added a black ribbon and tied a bow. The card below that, I added a blue ribbon, tied a knot and angled the ends. I stamped "Hello" in white ink then used Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel - Clear. I then punched the corner with EK Success Cornerpunch Med Victorian Lace. I used 3D-Dots on a blue border (a 1/8" larger than the green cardstock) and then on white cardstock (again, 1/8" larger). The last card I only added the three (3) rhinstones and the black stamped "Happy Anniversary" on silver cardstock. I used 3D-Dots on this sentiment also.

The cards were generally easy to make and I had fun making them for the most part. If you read my last post, you know that I was having creative difficulties and not able to have some of these cards come together. I am happy with how they came out.

So the next time you are looking at cardstock, try to see the simple beauty and look to the possibilities of making some cards without having to do too much...imagine what you could do......



 

Thinking of You

I have some friends that I haven't seen in a while and have been thinking about lately, so I thought I would make this cute little card. (No Cricut machine needed...lol) You can actually change the sentiment to a number of different ones: thinking of you, happy birthday, congratulations, just because, hello, feel better soon, etc and the list goes on.

I started with a scrap piece of white cardstock about 4 1/2" x 4". Then, using an Ultra Wedge (makeup foam wedge), I stamped the cardstock with different colors of pigment ink in a random pattern. The blue ink is around the edges (although it doesn't show very well in this photo).

While still wet, spritz the cardstock with water using the Mini Mister and then pat it dry with a paper towel. Next, I used the Cuttlebug Flower Circle Embossing Folder. Set aside and let dry. After dry, put a thin coat of glue in the center of the flower and add glitter. I used a multi-color irridescent glitter. Let dry.

I cut the background orange cardstock at 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" and glued down to the base card. The yellow cardstock was cut at 4 3/4" x 4" and then I embossed it with Cuttlebug D'Vine Swirls Embossing Folder. Adhere the yellow cardstock to the orange cardstock, keeping it close to the top edge of the orange cardstock.  Next, cut the "flower" cardstock (that you had set aside) to 4 1/4" x 3 1/2". I then used the EK Success Paper Shapers Corner Adorner Rounder Punch - Large and rounded all four corners. I took another piece of yellow cardstock and cut it at 2 3/4" x 1 1/4" and then embossed it again using D'Vine Swirls. I cut the white cardstock at 2 3/4" x 1", stamped my sentiment "thinking of you" with orange pigment ink, then adhered it to the small yellow cardstock. Using the corner rounder once again, I rounded two (2) opposite corners. Finally, I used 3D-Dots (glue dots) and placed the sentiment at the bottom in the center.

I hope that my friends enjoy the card as much as I enjoyed making it. Now imagine what you could do...and let me know how it turns out. 

It's a Boy

As you can see, I didn't get this posted last night or before work this morning. I tried, but it just wasn't happening...

My neighbor's daughter had a baby recently and I thought I would make a card to celebrate the blessed event.

My base card is half of a 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of white cardstock. The animal patterned background cardstock is cut at 4" x 5 1/4". I then rounded the corners with  my EK Success Paper Shapers Corner Adorner  Rounder Punch - Large (now that was a mouthful!) I cut the blue cardstock at 2" x 3 3/4" and the orange gold cardstock at 2 1/2"  x 4". I also rounded the corners on these papers. I cut the giraffe at 3 3/4" from Cricut Cartridge Create A Critter. The base cut is in turquoise, layer 1 is in light blue and layer 2 is in the orange gold cardstock. I embossed the orange gold layer with Cuttlebug Tiny Mosaic Embossing  folder. After assembling the layers together, I used Crayola Glitter Glue - clear to fill in the dots on the giraffe. Let dry thoroughly. I dotted the eyes with a black marker. "It's a Boy" is cut at 1" from Cricut Cartridge New Arrival in the same turquoise cardstock used for the base of the giraffe.

I glued the patterned paper down first. Next I tied a light blue ribbon in a knot around the orange gold cardstock and cut the ends on a angle. I then glued "It's a Boy" on the cardstock and adhered that to the patterned paper. Glue the giraffe on the blue cardstock. Overlapping the orange gold cardstock, glue the blue cardstock down. Finally, I doodled a line and dots on two edges of the blue cardstock and one bottom edge of the orange gold cardstock with a Gelly Roll white pen.

Here is the finished card again. Inside, I stamped "Congratulations" with Fiskars All Year Greetings clear stamps in Sky Blue ink.

Hopefully I will get some sleep tonight. Niki, the new puppy, didn't want to sleep last night...she discovered the rabbits under the shed yesterday and all she wants to do is go outside. I'm not sure how I will be discouraging this behavior.

Package for Notecards

Here is one way to package your notecards as a gift.

Cut one strip of solid cardstock 2 1/2" x 10". Cut a strip of patterned cardstock 1 1/2" x 10".  Center, then glue the patterned strip on the solid strip. Wrap the strip around the six (6) notecards and six (6) envelopes. Overlapping the ends, glue together. Cut a 2" circle from white cardstock and emboss with Cuttlebug Stitched Circle Folder #2. Punch a 1 1/4" circle from solid cardstock. Stamp "for you" (I used Fiskars All Year Greetings Clear Stamps) with white pigment ink. Glue the smaller circle to the larger one. Using 3D-Dots (pop-dots), adhere the larger circle to the patterned strip in the center.

Give it a try and imagine what you could do!
