Favorite Pet

At Die Cuttin' Diva's the challenge is to make a card with your favorite pet on it. Well, first of all, my favorite pet is a dog! (hands down...don't even have to think about it!)  I have had some really wonderful doggies over the years...right now, we have two sweethearts.
However with that said, my friend and neighbor's father just loss his companion yesterday. As you can imagine, they are all devastated. I made two cards for her...one for her father and one for the vet that treated them so well.

Here they are:

Finished Cards: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials: (Top card)
Cardstock: White, Brown and Patterned Paper
Cricut Cartridge Paper Pups Angel Dog, page 117 (Base and Solid Base)
CardzTV with Mary Clear Stamps Barks and Bones, "Dogs Leave Paw Prints on Your Heart!"
Black Pigment Ink
Mounting Tape

Materials: (2nd Card)
Cardstock: White, Pink, Black and Patterned Paper
Cricut Cartridge Paper Pups Butterfly Dog and Butterfly, page 89 (Base, Shift, Solid Base and Solid Shift)
CardzTV with Mary Clear Stamps Ticket Talk, "Thank You!"
Black Pigment Ink
Pink Ribbon
Mounting Tape

Animals can really be a big part of your life. I don't know what I would do without my babies. And although I don't feel as though you can ever replace the loss of one, I feel that you can make more room in your heart to love another.

My sister-in-law sent this to my other sister-in-law via Facebook, and I would like to share it with you...

I think I'll give my sweethearts a big hug right now....

Have a great rest of the day...Thanks for stopping by! (Leave a comment)

Happy Tails To You

This is Challenge #3 for the CardzTV Design Team. Our challenge was "The 3 R's" (Make a card for any occasion using one or all of the 3 R's...Ribbon, Rhinestones or Rick Rack).

My card:

and the inside:

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: Brown, Cream and Patterned Paper
Cricut Cartridge Paper Pups Happy, page 106 (Circle Base)
CardzTV with Mary Clear Stamps Barks and Bones "Happy Tails To You!"
Ribbon
Queen and Co Rhinestones Snowflake, 6 Small
1 Heart Rhinestone Crystal
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder Dog
Super Giant Punch Circle
Brown Pigment Ink

I used two of the three...Ribbon and Rhinestones. The Rick Rack I had just wouldn't have looked right...lol. And yes, I know I could have made some, (from any of the different carts that have that image), but I didn't really think it needed it.

As soon as I looked at the different stamp choices I had, (14 choices in the Barks and Bones Clear Stamps),"Happy tails to you!" jumped out at me to use with the Paper Pups image. They were made for each other...lol. Don't you think so too?

Now don't forget that Mary is giving away a stamp set, so make sure you enter at CardzTV. The challenge runs Jan 13th, 14th and 15th, so get your card in soon.

Hope you liked my card...leave me a comment...I would love to hear from you. Thanks!

Sympathy Card

Last week, my friend's dog started acting a little off. She took him to the vet and they determined that he was really sick. The family made that oh-so-hard decision and on Monday night, Romeo was not in pain any longer. Knowing how it feels to loss an animal that you care so much for, (actually a big part of the family), I thought I would make a sympathy card for her.

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Black and Patterned Paper
Cricut Cartridge Paper Pups Angel Dog, page 117 (Base and Solid Base)
Fiskars All Year Greetings Clear Stamps, "With Sympathy"
CardTV with Mary Barks and Bones Clear Stamps, "Dogs Leave Paw Prints On Your Heart!"
Mounting Tape
Black Marker (To draw a heart just below the wings)

Romeo was a nutty, cute Pomeranian who was black and white with a black heart on his back...hence, the name. I know he will be missed by his family.

Relax Birthday Card (and don't forget about my give-away)

It's been a strange week...first an earthquake and now a hurricane. I'm hoping and praying that everyone in the path of the hurricane stays safe...we live in New Jersey, so unfortunately, we are in Irene's path.

On to other things....At Cricut 360, the challenge is "Relax". Make a project with any cartridge with this in mind. Well, I made this card awhile ago, but never shared it. It's a birthday card (big surprise that I have birthdays on my  mind, huh? lol...for those who don't know, my birthday is tomorrow, the 27th, and my blog is having it's birthday this month also...so I am having a give-away, more about that later).

Here is the card:

Finished card: 5 1/2" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: Tan, Brown and Patterned Paper
Cricut Cartridge Paper Pups Relaxdog, page 114 (Base, Shift and Shadow)
Ready-Made Card with Embossing Stripes
Ribbon
Computer Printed Sentiment in Brown Ink
Mounting Tape
Glue Dot

I think it's funny that my card is similar to one of the design team members cards...like I said, I made this awhile ago. Great minds think alike, huh?

So, to the birthday give-away... Full details are on Monday's post (Click Here). You must leave a comment (answer the question, "What should I do for my birthday?"), be a follower and leave me a way to contact you if you are the winner. Remember, the comment MUST be on MONDAY"S post to be eligible. Good Luck!

Keep Safe...

Layout Niki

I haven't put together a layout in a while, but since we just adopted our little girl, Niki, I thought that I would create one for her. We adopted her from a local shelter. She is a sweetheart, but a bundle of energy at 9 months old and every bit of a puppy. She tries to chew anything not nailed down...lamp plugs, sneakers, baskets...lol. We're just taking it one day at a time.

The photos and paper dog are double mounted with cream and brown cardstock. The heading "NIKI" and "Aug 2010" are cut from Cricut Cartridge George and Basic Shapes, cut at 2 1/4" and 1" respectively. I used the negative image and cut it straight about 1/2" under "NIKI". This way the background paper shows through. The dog  is cut from Cricut Cartridge Paper Pups at 3 1/2". I cut it once in white with the blackout key and once with the base cut in brown cardstock. Instead of just using the outline, I cut off the bottom of the feet, tip of the tail, a "v"at the neck and around the nose in order for the white to show through where Niki has white fur. I colored her eyes. After the dog is layered, I used Cuttlebug Herringbone Embossing Folder. I cut "woof" also from Paper Pups at 1 1/2". I did the same with "woof" as with "NIKI" by using the negative image and cutting the paper straight across. After everything was mounted, I stuck on some doggie prints from some stickers I had.

Now imagine what you could do....
