For The Birds!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN.......

My youngest son, Jeff carved this pumpkin. Didn't he do a GREAT job?

Here is the challenge...
At Fantabulous Cricut this week, the challenge is "For the Birds". (Make a project with a bird (or turkey) or something that has to do with a bird).

This will be my last project for Fantabulous Cricut as a Design Team member...as my term is up. I am sad to see it end. I have enjoyed working with all of these talented women. I wish the next design team much success.  I hope you all still come to visit me here.

On to the card:

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5  1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Yellow Gold, Yellow, Gold, Black, Rust/Brown, Speckled Ivory and Three Different  Patterned Papers
Cricut Cartridge 3Birds on Parade Pilgrim, page 41 (Base, Shift, Layer 1 Base, Layer 1 Shift, Layer 2 Base  and Phrase Shift)
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder Herringbone
Gold Ribbon
Queen and Co Pearls Sunflower Yellow 2 Large and 2 Medium
Studio G Clear Stamps "Happy Turkey Day"
Brown Pigment Ink
Brown LaPlume II Marker
Mounting Tape

I know it is Halloween today, however, Thanksgiving is about 3 weeks away. (I would love to know where this year has gone!) So, I thought my pilgrim/turkey would be appropriate. The black card stock is just a scrap that is taped behind the eyes. I mounted the body of the bird over the feathers and then mounted the entire bird on the card. It may be hard to see, but I scored a line down the center of each of the feathers. I tried to use the marker to make shadows and give more dimension.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you continue to do so. Leave a comment (I always love reading your comments).

Thank you ladies at Fantabulous Cricut...I have enjoyed working with you. Good luck in the future and I'll be seeing you at the challenges!

Take care...

I needed to make a birthday card for my best friend. I came across these two challenges and thought this was a great starting point for me. The first challenge is from The Paper Players (sketch challenge) and the second is Birthday Sundaes (color challenge...purple, green, white and black).

Hope you like my card...

Her birthday is tomorrow, so I better get it in the mail...lol.

Keep checking back and I would love if you became a follower. Also leave a comment...It's always great to read what you have to say....

Thanks...

Purple People Eater FCCB Challenge

The challenge at Fantabulous Cricut this week was called "Purple People Eater". (Use purple on your project and a monster or a bug). SVG Attic is the sponsor this week and we were asked to use one of their images. Since I do not have the software, Amy Jo (FCCB Coordinator) was kind enough to cut one of the images and send it to me. I enhanced it and made the card below... (Thank you Amy Jo).

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Olive Green, Light Green, Purple, Black, Orange and Two Different Patterned Papers.
SVG Attic Image Spooky Friends, Bride of Frankenstein
Cricut Cartridge New Arrival Diaper Bag page 105, (Shift Base)
Inkadinkado Clear Stamps All Hallow's Eve/Halloween Spider Web
Scrappy Moms Clear Stamps Bewitched, "Hand over the candy and no one gets hurt!"
Sizzix Embossing Folder Vintage Holiday (Top Corner)
Studio G Mini Punch, Spider
Studio G Mini Punch, Bat
Glossy Accents
Queen and Co Pearls, Midnight 2 Large
Two Googly Eyes Green
Purple Chalk
Mounting Tape

It may be hard to tell in the photo, but I used Glossy Accents on the stripes in the hair. I like the shiny affect that it gives. The Halloween bag in her hand is actually 3D. I hope you like the card.

Please go check out the other images at SVG Attic and the other FCCB design team member's projects.

I wanted to share a picture of my granddaughter.

Isn't she adorable? She's getting so big.

Thanks for stopping by. I would love to hear your comments. If you aren't a follower, I would love it if you would become one.

Take care and have a wonderful week.

Unfortunately there are women in my life that have had to deal with this disease. My mother being one of them. I lost her to this awful disease 20 years ago. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of her still. A sweet lady, that I work with, has survived it for well, I don't know how many years. Thank goodness. And finally, my best friend is another survivor. Again, I say Thank goodness. I don't know what I would do without her in my life. And although we talk about everything (and I do mean everything), this is a subject that is taboo. I don't know why. I hope she knows that I care about her dearly and if ever she wanted to talk, I am there for her.

I hope you like my card.

Thanks for stopping by.

The smallest green rectangle is cut at 1" x 2 3/4" and 3/4" x 2 1/2".  The ivory rectangle is 1 1/4" x 2".  Layer together, then off-set each group. The flower is on mounting tape to give a little more dimension.

I like the way this turned out. I thought the off-center opening gives the card interest.

I am also submitting this to The Craft Spot for the Design Team Call. Wish me luck!

The weather here today is really nice. Warm, in fact. Indian summer. I should try to get outside and do some work around the house. I also have some sanding inside to do. We'll see what, if anything, gets done. lol

All you mothers, grandmothers and mothers-to be, if you get a chance to see a show called "Motherhood, The Musical", you should definitely go see it. I went last night with my best friend, Trish, and it was just SO GOOD. I laughed so hard I cried. Such an excellent show. We saw it at Society Hill Playhouse in Philadelphia.

Hope you all have a great day...enjoy

The Paper Players Challenge..."Music"

Second post for today...

"Music" was the name of the challenge at The Paper Players. (Add music to your project or create a project inspired by your favorite song). I thought that this would be a good chance for me to use the music embossing folder (Allegro) with the Core'dinations Cardstock pad that I had just purchased.

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: Gray, White, Yellow, Black and Black/Gray Core'dinations
Cricut Cartridge Create A Critter Bee, page 68 (Base, Layer 1 Base)
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder Allegro
Queen and Co Pearls Nightfall, 2 Large
Computer Sentiment
Bee Sticker

The sentiment is actually the title of a Bee Gees song (You Should Be Dancin')...I took a little artistic license with this...lol. I have never used the Cord'dinations paper before and I thought it worked well. I usually am a very straight-cut kind-of a designer, but because of the gray "core", I wanted it to show, so that's why I ripped the edges. I continued that thought with the sentiment also.

Hope you like this project...let me know and leave a comment. Thanks for stopping by.

Two Challenges...Use Ribbon

I would like to submit the card I made for two challenges. The first is Birthday Sundaes (Use Ribbon on your Birthday Card). The second is Celebrate the Occasion (Any Occasion...must use Ribbon).

Here is my card:

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Blue, Red, Orange,Yellow, Green, Gray and Two Patterned Papers
Cricut Cartridge Simply Charmed Cupcake 1, page 77 (Base, Layer 1 Base, Layer 2 Base, Layer 3 Base, Layer 4 Base and Shadow Base)
Cricut Design Studio
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder D'vine Swirls
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder Mosaic Tiles
Happy Birthday Ribbon
Inkadinkado Clear Stamps Birthday Cupcakes "Sweet Birthday Wishes", "Celebrate" and a Cupcake
Blue Pigment Ink
Red Pigment Ink
Black Pigment Ink
Queen and Co Pearls, Berry Red 4 Small
Irridescent Glitter

It's always nice to have an extra birthday card around the house...for those unexpected times. My sons use them all the time.

Although my work schedule still hasn't changed (still working a lot of hours), I've been trying harder to craft when I have some available time. I'm trying to get my livingroom painted (although it's not really used as a livingroom..it houses our pool table). Couldn't find a paint color that I was happy with...until last week. So now starts the spackling, and sanding...woo hoo.

Well, happy creating...leave a message (I always love to read your comments)

"Welcome Baby" Cricut 360 Challenge

A few weeks ago, the Walmart that I frequent was having a clearance sale on their Cricut Lite Cartridges. I thought I would pick up a couple of them since they were half price. I bought Block Party, B is for Boy and Sugar and Spice, thinking that maybe I could use them sometime. Well, Cricut 360 is having a challenge called "Welcome Baby". I thought this would be a perfect time to use the Sugar and Spice Cartridge.

Here is my card:

Finished Card: 4 1/4' x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Green, Yellow, Black and Vellum Patterned Paper
Cricut Lite Cartridge Sugar And Spice Stork, 35th Button (Base, Shift and Layer  Base)
Cricut Design Studio
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder D'vine Swirls
Sizzix Embossing Folder Scrollwork
Light Green and Light Yellow Chalk
Two Medium Size Buttons Light Yellow
Mounting Tape
Computer Printed Sentiment

I cut the green cardstock 4" x 5 1/4". I then cut the vellum 4 1/4" x 5 1/4". I used a scoring board to score the vellum at 1/4" from the top. I folded it over and then placed it over the green cardstock and taped it down on the back. In this way I didn't have to adhere the vellum on the front. I don't know about you but I don't like the tape/glue to show through when using vellum. I cut a piece of white cardstock at 3 3/4" x 5" and glued that between the vellum and the green cardstock. I thought the white cardstock would help show the vellum off better. After embossing, I lightly chalked the pieces. I thought the buttons at the top just finished the card off.

Would love to hear from you...leave a comment

Hope you have a wonderful day...do something creative, just
