Fantabulous Cricut "A Pirate's Life"

I had a fun time with this Fantabulous Cricut challenge..."A Pirate's Life" (Make a pirate themed project). Well, I always think of Treasure Chests when I think of pirates, don't you? So that is what I made...

The back:

And when you open it:

Now you might think that it is completely filled with gold doubloons (chocolate) and jewels, but...

You would be wrong! There's a false floor and if you pick up the gold band (ribbon)...

There are more treasures underneath.

I hope you were able to see that it also has a place for a lock on the front too...

This would be great for a Pirate themed party. You could make it smaller and use it as favor boxes for each of your pirate guests.

Finished Chest: 4 3/4" x 2 1/4" x 5 "

Materials:
Cardstock: Black, White and Gold
Cricut Cartridge Sweet Tooth Boxes Toolbox (Toolbox, Toolbox Layer 1, Toolbox Layer 2 and Toolbox Layer 3)
Cricut Cartridge Indie Art Skull and Cross Bones, 12th Button
Cricut Design Studio
Queen and Co Pearls Nightfall
Gold Ribbon
Black Pigment Ink (rubbed on the gold and skull to make them look tarnished and old)

For the inside box, I cut the Toolbox Layer 1 twice without the "gear shape" and added a scrap of black cardstock to the bottom for a finished look. I also cut the inner box 1/4" smaller. I cut strips of Gold cardstock at 1/2" and glued them in place around the box.

Hope you liked this project....it was really so much fun to make.

Have a great week...
imagine what you could do....
