Digi Haven Challenge "Christmas"

If you are looking for CardzTV Stamps Challenge "To Die For!", click here.

Christmas is just around the corner, (can you believe it?) so here at Digi Haven we are starting to celebrate. We would love it if you joined the challenge. Please use a FREE digital image AND link back to the original artist. There is an original digital sentiment prize from our own Mynnette.

Before I show you my card, I also have some other news....(woo hoo!!!)...starting Jan 4th we are have a Grand Re-opening! Some of the rules will be changing AND we will have some prizes!! WOW, right? We are pretty excited. ALSO (no, there can't be more...but there is) we have a Design Team Call right now. If you are interested in joining the team, please check it out at the Digi Haven blog.

Now to my card:

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Red and Patterned Paper
Beccy's Place Digital Image
Spectrum Noir Markers
CardzTV with Mary Clear Stamps Christmas Joy, "Cookies for Santa!"
Sizzix Ovals, Scallops # 3
Queen and Co Pearls Berry Red 1 Small and Pearl 4 Small
White Pigment Ink
Mounting Tape

The cookies are fussy-cut and single mounted. I hand wrote "Santa" on the tag.

This is the digital sentiment you would win:

I liked the cookie image so much that I made my annual cookie exchange invitations with it also. Here are just a couple of the invitations (each one had a different background paper):

I glittered the ribbon on the invitations and stamped the sentiment "You're invited".

I really like the way all of them turned out. What do you think?

Now don't forget, there are changes happening real soon, but until then please use a FREE image and link back to the artist to be considered for the winner's circle and the sentiment image prize.

For more info to apply for the Design Team, go to the Digi Haven blog.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by. Please leave a comment and tell me what you think.

CardzTV Stamps Challenge # 20 "To Die For!"

If you are looking for Digi Haven Challenge "Christmas", click here (after 5 am EST).

This is the challenge at CardzTV this week..."To Die For!" Now that sounds pretty bad, doesn't it? lol Actually, please create a project for Christmas that uses die cuts from your manual or electronic cutting machine. Mary has a set of stamps for the winner of the challenge. (Runs from Nov 30th - Dec 6th).

I made a card:

Another angle:

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Burgundy, Green and 4 Different Patterned Paper
CardzTV with Mary Clear Stamps Christmas Joy, "Do Not Open 'Til Christmas!"
Sizzix Sizzlits Medium Die Cuts Party Set (Present)
Queen and Co Pearls, Pearl 1 Small, Grass Green 1 Small, Classy Red 1 Small and Berry Red 1 Small
Green Pigment Ink
Mounting Tape
Small Hole Punch

I think the sentiment is just perfect for this card...don't you? I cut out the present 4 times then mixed up the bows between the four of them. The two on the outside are glued to the background, the second present (as you are looking at the card) is single mounted and the last one is double mounted. The sentiment is glued to the angled paper (with 2 small hole punches) and then is single mounted. The green dotted background is also single mounted on the card.  I like having dimension on my cards...can you tell?

I also made another project using die cuts (just no "written" sentiment...you'll understand when you see it). I made this for my granddaughter, Gianna. I hope she likes it.

A little closer:

Finished Project: 8 1/2" x 13 1/2" x 1 3/4"

Materials:
Karen Foster Design Countdown Calendar (comes with countdown sticker numbers)
Cricut Cartridge Paper Doll Dress Up Body, page 29 (Shift); Santa, page 72 (Base, Shift, Headwear Shift, Accessories 1 Shift and Accessories 3 Shift)
Various Scrap Cardstock
Small Circle Punch
Mounting Tape (for nose)
Cotton Ball
Candy

I attached the Santa to the back of the box set with removable tape (this way I can always take him off if I want to turn the boxes around and use it for something else). I can't wait until she sees this. I'm sure she'll love getting the candy prizes. What do you think?

Don't forget to enter the challenge...you could win one of Mary's stamps. There are so many to choose from, it may be hard to decide. Good luck to everyone.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you liked my card and countdown project. Please leave comment.

Dogs...bet you never saw that coming....hahaha

Actually, I don't think I have one right now. It depends on my mood.

4. Who are your heroes?
My sons...My oldest for the way he takes care of his daughter. My middle son for how he has overcome so many obstacles with Dyslexia and obtained his Masters in Education. Clean and Simple Christmas Tree

Over at The Paper Players there is a new challenge - LeAnne's Clean & Simple Gold or Silver Challenge.

I decided to go with Silver...

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White, Silver and Clear Plastic
Autumn Leaves Clear Stamps 'Tis The Season, " Joy, Love, Peace, Happiness, Goodwill and Generosity Towards Men, Laughter & Kindness, Happy Holidays, This Is What It'sAll About, Merry Christmas To You And All You Love"
American Crafts Elements Mini Jewel Brads - 4
White Pigment Ink
Clear Embossing Powder
White Sheer Ribbon
Mounting Tape

I stamped the sentiment/image with white pigment ink on the clear plastic. Next, I embossed it with clear embossing powder. I punched a tiny hole on the corners of the silver card stock and clear plastic, then added the brads. I wrapped the ribbon and tied a bow. Then I single mounted the silver/clear plastic layer to the white cardstock base. It was very difficult to photograph this card due to the reflective silver cardstock and the clear plastic overlay.

Hope you like the card.

Thank you for dropping by. Please leave a comment.

Now I don't think you can tell from this photo, but the turkey has 3 layers. The first layer is just the feathers in the back. Next is the body of the turkey and the 3rd layers include the hat band and buckle, beak and wattle. The inside will be stamped with "Happy Thanksgiving". I thought this was funny......hope you do too.

Thinking of You Card #2

I made a card on yesterday for a couple of challenges (CAS(E) this Sketch! and The Paper Players...scroll down to see it). I made the exact card (same sketch and the same colors, just moved around a bit).

Here it is:

Same Materials and Size as yesterday.

Now don't you think the green circles with red dots look like olives? I do...hahahahahahahaha.

On another note...had a great time in New York City with my son. The show (Elf, The Musical) was good. Here is a picture of (my) Buddy the Elf:

Someone actually came up and asked for his autograph...lol. (He almost wore the entire ELF outfit, but changed his mind at the last minute).

Have a great rest of the night....

Digi Haven Challenge Fall/Trees and/or Leaves

If you are looking for the CardzTV Challenge, click here.

Our challenge at Digi Haven is called "Fall/Trees and/or Leaves". It will last for two weeks, Nov 2nd through the 15th. Please use a free digi and link back to the original artist. Mynnette, one of our design team members, has graciously offered an original sentiment to the winner.

Here is my card:

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White and Dark Blue
Dearie Dolls Digital Image
Spectrum Noir Markers
Inkssentials Glossy Accents

Fairly simple card with only Glossy Accents as an addition to the image. I didn't think it really needed anything else. Hope you agree...

Right now as I look at this image and am writing this post, ironically, I am listening to the blustery winds and pounding rain from Hurricane Sandy. This image has so much movement...so I guess it hits a little closer than normal.

If you want to be eligible for the winner's circle and Mynnette's original sentiment, please make sure you use a free digital image AND link back to the original artist.

Thanks for stopping by....please leave a comment.

Side note: The hurricane has past and we were very blessed that we suffered no damage. My son, who works in Atlantic City, has no idea when he will return to work due to the devastation that happened there. Again, I believed we were blessed.

CardzTV Stamps Challenge #18 "I'm So Thankful!"

If you are looking for Digi Haven Challenge "Fall/Trees and/or Leaves", click here (after 6 am).

It's challenge time at CardzTV again. This week is "I'm So Thankful!" (make a Thanksgiving project).

I made a card:

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White (for base of card), Orange, Green, Dark Brown, Cream, Tan and Patterned Paper
Cricut Cartridge Simply Charmed Turkey 2, page 61 (Shift Base, Layer 1 Shift, Layer 2 Shift, Layer 3 Shift and Layer 4 Shift)
CardzTV with Mary Clear Stamps Ticket Talk, "Happy Thanksgiving!"
Black Pigment Ink
Queen and Co Pearls Sunflower Yellow, 2 Large, 2 Medium and 2 Small
Chalk, Green and Rust Brown
Mounting Tape

I really don't want to rush the month, but I can't wait to eat some turkey for Thanksgiving. How about you? You know, not just the turkey but the whole nine yards...stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy, broccoli, corn and of course, pie with maybe some ice cream. (Boy, I just really made myself hungry! lol). Do you have your favorites? Tell me what they are, I would love to hear about them.

Please join in the fun and you could win a stamp set from Mary (your choice). The challenge runs until the 8th. What are you thankful for?

Thanks for stopping by. Please leave a comment.

Digi Haven's November "Anything Goes"

It's our monthly "Anything Goes" Challenge at Digi Haven. Beccy at Beccy's Place is sponsoring us! Isn't that exciting? The winner will receive 3 (count them...1, 2, 3) digital images from her store! That is so generous of her. Thank you Beccy.

I used one of Beccy's free digital images for my card:

Inside:

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Materials:
Cardstock: White and Patterned Paper
Beccy's Place Digital Image
Spectrum Noir Markers
Spellbinders Nestabilities Big Scalloped Circles SM, Largest One
CardzTV with Mary Clear Stamps, Christmas Joy "May the beauty of this season bring you joy!"
Queen and Co Pearls Grass Green, 2 Large and 2 Medium
Queen and Co Pearls Berry Red, 4 Small
White Pigment Ink

I made this as a gate-fold card. The scalloped circle was cut twice...once around the image and the second one out of plain white card stock. The second scalloped circle goes behind the image in order to cover any bleeding on the back. Makes it look finished when you open the card. I think the sentiment goes well with this card. Don't you?

Please go and check out the other designer's creations and see more of Beccy's images. Don't forget, if you enter and win, you could get your choice of 3 images. Good luck!

Thanks for stopping by...I would love to hear what you think. Please leave a comment.
