Sympathy Card

Last week, my friend's dog started acting a little off. She took him to the vet and they determined that he was really sick. The family made that oh-so-hard decision and on Monday night, Romeo was not in pain any longer. Knowing how it feels to loss an animal that you care so much for, (actually a big part of the family), I thought I would make a sympathy card for her.

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Cardstock: White, Black and Patterned Paper
Cricut Cartridge Paper Pups Angel Dog, page 117 (Base and Solid Base)
Fiskars All Year Greetings Clear Stamps, "With Sympathy"
CardTV with Mary Barks and Bones Clear Stamps, "Dogs Leave Paw Prints On Your Heart!"
Mounting Tape
Black Marker (To draw a heart just below the wings)

Romeo was a nutty, cute Pomeranian who was black and white with a black heart on his back...hence, the name. I know he will be missed by his family.

Just My Style

This is my first project as a design team member for CardzTV. I'm so excited. Our first challenge is called "Just My Style". I actually made two cards.

Here's the first one:

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Cardstock: White, Turquoise, Three Shades of Brown, Red and Patterned Paper
Cricut Cartridge Create A Critter Reindeer, page 73 (Base, Layer 1 Base, Layer 2 Base and Layer 3 Base)
CardzTV with Mary Clear Stamps Holly Jolly "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas"
Red Glitter Glue
Queen and Co Pearls Pearl 8 Small
Le Plume II Marker Brown
Mounting Tape

My second card:

and the inside:

Finished Card: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Cardstock: White, Cream, Brown, Yellow, Orange, Pink and Patterned Paper
Cricut Cartridge Everyday Pop-Up Cards Cake 2, page 64 (Base, Layer 1 Base, Layer 1 Shift and Layer 2 Base)
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder D'Vine Swirls
Le Plume II Marker Pink (the candles and cake plate)
Fiskars Clear Stamps Put On Your Party Hat "Happy Birthday"
Queen and Co Pearls Orchid 3 Large and 2 Medium
Mounting Tape
Computer Sentiment (inside)

When I read the challenge, "Just My Style", I thought long and hard about it. I finally concluded that my style is simple. Generally, I like one large image accompanied by a sentiment. My lines are usually straight. I do like embossing folders too. Oh yeah, and 3-D projects. (lol) Now don't get me wrong, I use border punches and glitter too. I guess it just depends on my mood and the project.

Hope you check out all the projects over at CardzTV (and Mary is giving away a new stamp set too).

Leave a comment (I love reading them) and/or become a follower.

Turkey Tail Feathers?

I bought a new Cricut cartridge (Ribbons and Rosettes) the other day. I thought it would make some nice decorations for Christmas. However, I wanted to play a little bit, so I made this thinking I could use it for Thanksgiving.

Finished Project: 6" diameter

Cardstock: Brown and Orange
Cricut Cartridge Ribbons and Rosettes Scallop 3, page 23 (Base, Shift and Rhinestone/Medallion Shadow Shift)
String or Thread

This particular cut reminded me of turkey tail feathers. I cut out 6 Base cuts at 3 ", then scored and folded. Glue the ends together making a circle. Push down the center to make it flat and adhere the medallion with shadow in the middle. I found this to be a little tricky. While the glue was drying, I held it in place with the glue bottle. I did make a medallion for each side. Glue only one side at a time. Add the thread and hang. When I make this again, I will rethink the type of glue I use. The tacky glue wrinkled the paper on the cutout on the medallion. What would you recommend?

I feel like I haven't had a lot of time to craft. I am having Thanksgiving dinner and I am trying to get my house ready for company. First, of course, I decided to paint and you all know how that goes...taking down pictures, spackle, sand and then paint. Then I had to get new curtains...which was not as easy as I would have thought it should have been...well, 4 sets of curtains later, I finally have them up. I also wanted two wall mounted coat racks...again, not so easy. I couldn't find anything that I liked. Those too are now up. I had to clean out boxes, etc etc etc. and it's still not quite finished. It's those little nagging "what do I do with this now" stuff that I am still debating on what to do with. Usually I get frustrated, throw it in a box and store it I'm sure I'm not the only one that does that......I still need to go grocery shopping too. Geez, I'm making myself very tired just thinking about it. So, I guess I better go and see about getting something accomplished...hhmmmmm, my cozy bed is looking really good right about now. Maybe I'll start tomorrow after work....Sounds like a plan....

Aren't These Really Cute?

Just a quick post tonight...I am really tired, however, I just saw these on the ACMoore Facebook page and thought they were really cute. From what I can tell it's a chocolate covered Ritz cracker on the bottom and a chocolate covered marshmallow, joined together with dark chocolate. I think the "buckle" is just piped yellow candy. I am going to try and make these for Thanksgiving. I bet they are yummy too.
